Return of the Balls of Steel ;-)

Take your balls to work :-)

So I think I promised some man-specific energy balls.

Here’s the recipe for some that I make my hunny to take to work 🙂

1 cup each of brazil nuts and pumpkin seeds/pepitas (the ones I used are activated, so they’ve been soaked and dehydrated for better digestibility)
1 cup of mixed goji berries, dried cranberries, and dried blueberries
1 cup of diced dried figs
1 Tbsp Maca powder
2 Tbs bee pollen (optional – you can use pine pollen for a bigger energy/libido hit)
2 Tbs coconut oil
LOVE.
I mixed it all together in the food processor until crumbly and then rolled it into balls, and then rolled it in a combination of hemp seeds/cinnamon/ coconut sugar. Set in the fridge and then send them off to work with yer man 😀
Feel free to add nettle root powder for added Man power.
Rock on!

The Bee’s Knees

The Bees Knees balls
Yum balls, Bliss balls, Energy balls, Balls of Steel, no matter what you want to call them, these versatile little balls pack a power punch of conveniently sized awesomeness that are perfect for road trips, kids, kids on road trips, husbands at work, or anything else where you might need a quick bite/distraction. These particular little balls could also be called the Bees Knees, or even the Bee’s balls if you have your mind in the gutter like I often do. I made these for a recent road trip to the far flung jewel of autosport that is Bathurst. Here’s the recipe for this particular ball of brilliance.

2 cups walnuts – activated by soaking in fresh water for up to 8 hours (and then drained before use).
1 cup of fresh dates, pitted and halved for ease on the food processor.
2 heaped tsp Maca powder
1 dessertspoon Bee pollen
1 dessertspoon raw wild local honey
1 dessertspoon coconut butter
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp vanilla (bean or extract)
LOVE

Mix in your food processor until it all forms a big doughy ball. Then comes the fun part, with a teaspoon scoop out some of the ‘dough’ and roll into a ball between the palms of your clean hands. In a separate bowl sprinkle 2 TBs of evaporated coconut nectar (aka coconut sugar) and 1 tsp cinnamon powder, and then roll each ball until well coated with this yummy coating. Place all the balls in a suitable container and leave in the fridge to set for a couple of hours, or until you need them. This recipe certainly isn’t concrete (literally either). Like I said, these are versatile little suckers depending on your mood and your needs. Feel free to add goji berries, dried berries of other sorts, a different type of nut, other superfood powders like cacao or acai, or ground seeds, the kid’s vitamins or supplements that they don’t want to take. The possibilities are endless. I’m currently in the process of formulating a recipe specifically for the man in my life and yes, they will be called Balls of Steel. Will keep you posted on that one.

The Bees Knees balls will give you boundless energy, essential vitamins, minerals, proteins, and fats. They’re also lovely morsels to savour at your next high tea.
